About the Area

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island is the smallest of all of the Canadian provinces. With a population of 145,000, PEI is located on Canada's East coast, joined to the mainland by the Confederation Bridge. The Island is known for its magnificent beaches and picturesque landscape with iron-rich red soil. The island is so beautiful that it inspired author Lucy Maud Montgomery to feature PEI as the location in her best selling novel, Anne of Green Gables .

Although the Island is known for its relaxed, casual atmosphere, there is no shortage of attractions and things to do. PEI is home to numerous world class golf courses, amazing dining experiences, and a rich nightlife. With numerous provincial parks, boating tours, and white sandy beaches, PEI is a prime location for the outdoor lover.

Charlottetown

Charlottetown is the capital city of PEI with a population of 35,000 and will be the host city of OR2013. Known as the birthplace of the Canadian Confederation, Charlottetown is a city rich in history and culture. The downtown core provides excellent shopping and sightseeing opportunities, as well as museums and heritage sites. There are restaurants to suit all tastes - many serving PEI's world renowned seafood. Charlottetown's nightlife is alive with live music and theatre. We hope that our attendees will get to experience PEI's rich culture and Canada's East Coast hospitality!
