Official Logo and New Look

Open Repositories 2013 is very pleased to roll out our official logo. We are retiring our little green puzzle piece to make way for a symbol that captures the spirit of the Repository Island: the lighthouse.

Lighthouses are all about open access. They provide information to any and all who come their way. Our lighthouse is also a part of a network, representing community and collaboration.

Our new logo is meant to invoke both a very old and traditional image (the lighthouse beacon) and a more modern concept (the network of nodes) to embody the theme of Repository Island. As we have noted before, islands can be viewed as isolated and insular, but those that live on islands think differently: Island life is all about Community.

We have also changed up our background image to showcase one of our tranquil beaches. Don't expect that to stay long term; there are too many beautiful vistas on Prince Edward Island for us to settle one just one. Come visit us next year on the Repository Island and see for yourself.
